Oh hello there blog, I’m back.

I apologize for not updating my blog on a daily basis. And I also apologize for not posting anything much about my life.

To make things short and quick, it’s been fun working in my company. Beach vacation bonus, free company lunch outs at luxurious restos around the metro, loving officemates and a small but firm online marketing team whom I think it’s more great than my previous job… (no pun intended, but that’s another story)

For the  past two months since i’ve been hired, I’ve grown so much and I realized that what I’ve learned from USAP is limited compared here where what I’ve read from online SEO sites and PDF journals can be applied in our daily task. It may be tiring and stressful (sometimes) but I think it’s very rewarding. I may have some mishaps as I went all the way but I think I’ve grown a lot as an SEO specialist. And I’m happy with that.

…Also, I think my boss is one of the most inspiring persons I’ve ever met. And I’m grateful for that.

(will resume the SM challenge real soon, I promise!)

The trouble with Friendster is… May 5, 2011

Friendster

I do had lots of mixed feelings this after seeing the news that Friendster will change from a social networking site to a social gaming site. It was the pioneer of all social networking sites and it was far more better than Myspace (methinks!). But I had to admit that Facebook is far more better because of its security to the profiles being created by the user on FB and the interactive features offered like FB chat, games, fan pages and many more. It also proven that Facebook can be of great use when it comes to SEO and social media campaigns, a big help for me since I’m working as an SEO/social media freelancer. Friendster on the other hand, can be oh so boring, where one can only check for updates, and that’s it.

Friendster’s drastic change has caused online users to panic, now exporting all the things posted in the said social networking site to our own hard drives, and for those who had blogs posted using friendster, has now downloading the XML files to be imported in other blog platforms such as in WordPress or in Blogger.

I think it’s a good thing for Friendster to make a move from a boring networking site to a online gaming platform, but it was a sad thing for users like me to see the classic Friendster out. Hope this change will make an impact for everyone on the internet.

Google updates on quality content March 1, 2011

I was reading about the recent Google update that targets content farms and other low quality blogs. It is, I think is a great move from Google to improve search engine results when it comes to searching high quality content in the world wide web. As an SEO and a writer myself, I tend to search different websites for a certain topic for the articles and/or blog post that I need to write, only to get dissapointed because of the redundancy and the quality of articles posted on different blogs and article websites.

It is shown that most of the article sites are affected by the recent Google update, but some sites are not affected by these, mainly because of the quality posted on their website. And I think it’s great that this has implemented, so that content farm sites are minimized if not eliminated.

Nice one Google! :D
